If you've met Moorhead's Abdullahi Ali, you can't help but be inspired by his infectious smile.

Ali, who is a workforce development case manager for Lakes and Pines Community Action Partnership by day, is also a super volunteer by night. He's been involved in many community efforts that focus on inclusiveness and empowerment, and he's been honored for that very work.

He just accepted the Minnesota Department of Human Services's "Outstanding Refugee Award" in the "Civic Engagement" category, an honor that recognizes individuals with refugee status whose leadership positively impacts their community and state.

Read more about his story here on the "Live Wide Open" blog which is hosted by the West Central Initiative.
