FARGO, N.D. -- The Fargo-Moorhead International Potluck Advisory Committee announced Monday, March 16, that both its April and May potluck events are cancelled.
Following the guidelines announced by the Centers for Disease Control, including holding no gatherings of people larger than 50 people, the IP Advisory Committee has cancelled the next two events in an effort to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 (coronavirus).
For now, the Advisory Committee is continuing to plan for its June event, which is annually celebrated in connection with World Refugee Day. That event is set for June 20, and will be held at an outdoor location.
The IP Advisory Committee recognizes that this is a challenging time for everyone, and while the aim of the potluck events is to connect with others through shared food and stories, this is a time for public health vigilance.
Instead of gathering these next two months for food and community, the IP Advisory Committee encourages attendees to reach out to others in need, whether that be through volunteering somewhere short of resources or supporting service industry workers who will be financially impacted by this global pandemic.
The International Potluck Advisory Committee is proud of its history of community support. We hope to continue to foster that spirit during these difficult times.
