New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman is well-known for his books on foreign affairs, global trade, the Middle East, environmental issues and globalization. It would seem it was the latter issue that brought him to the west-central Minnesota town of Willmar.
Turns out his aunt and uncle lived there, started a small steel distribution business, and it was where Friedman spent some of his summer every year for 50 years. Just to see how things were turning out around there, he paid another visit recently and was treated to an entirely different picture of inclusiveness that isn't being painted across much of the United States.
Take a look at what he found here in his column, posted on the inforum.com website.
